The Music Pool Berlin Artist Meetup is a regular meeting place for musicians in Berlin, to meet and network across scenes and genres, get to know what others are working on currently, exchange, and maybe find new collaborations. It is a place to eventually also build structures of solidarity and cooperation among the music scenes in the city. Eight short concerts of a wide spectrum of sounds and music make up the stage programme, and musicians can apply for one of the slots.

On stage, each musician or band has 10 minutes to play 2 songs or tracks live, with a basic setup. It also possible to play tracks from file or talk about a project. Please do use the stage also to mention what you are currently looking for (your future drummer may be in the audience) or ask for feedback. After the stage programme, there will be space and time to talk and meet. To chat more about the presentations, to discuss potential collaborations, to exchange ideas and contacts. And to move better together than alone. There will be ways also for those not performing on stage to present what you are looking for or offering. We look forward to another meetup of exchange - between scenes, different interests and experiences, and on new joint pathways.

The Artist Meetup is a good opportunity to see a great show on stage with music across different genres, to meet and get to know fellow artists across scenes, and find new collaborations.

The modern music industry is a constantly changing environment, but whether you are dreaming of a full-time career in music, or you would simply like to develop a sustainable platform from which to create and promote your work, there are three areas that will always need your attention: your art, your audience, and yourself. This three-part workshop series will examine each of these areas, looking at high-level concepts that can guide you at any career level, as well as practical tips and tactics for DIY artists trying to establish themselves with an audience and within the music industry.

While some topics will overlap across the sessions, the three workshops are broadly broken down as follows:

Session 1 // 10.06.2025 2 pm : You (How to create appropriate goals, plans and mindset)

Session 2 // 17.06.2025 2 pm: Your Audience (How to identify, communicate with, and build your audience)

Session 3 // 24.06.2025 2 pm: Your Music (The practicalities of recording and releasing)

Wir lernen wie du als Musiker*In dein Einkommen diversifizieren kannst: von Förderungen, Markenkooperationen, Verlagdeals, Festival und Live Gagen, Zusammenarbeit mit kulturellen Institutionen, DJing oder Musikunterricht: es gibt unzählige Art und Weisen in der Musikindustrie Geld zu verdienen, an die du bislang vielleicht noch nicht gedacht hast. Im Austausch mit anderen wollen wir Ängste und Hindernisse adressieren und Lösungsansätze erarbeiten.

First steps on professional stages

We’ll be covering all steps how to book, advance and play your first shows on a professional level.

Starting from how to write a booking inquiry mail and what kind of show to book, we’ll move through the process of securing the deal, advancing the production and creating your own technical rider to organizing the day of show.

We’ll cover all terminology and get you stage ready at the end of the workshop.

We will make sure that by the end of the workshop:

- you have a Tech-Rider ready that is clear, understandable and contains all the necessary info

- you will know how to write booking inquiry that you actually get answers on

- you’ve learned all the essential vocabulary to plan your show

- you will know all the roles involved what’s their individual job

- we will have covered „gig-etiquette“, the dos and don’ts on stage and backstage

- you will have learned how to make the most out of your soundcheck time

- you know what different deals there are, what’s a good offer and how to make sure the deal is closed

- you will have learned how to schedule the whole day including traveling, accommodation booking etc.

- and of course we will take our time to answer all of your questions
